Summary: Staff requests approval to submit the After School Education & Safety grant Renewal Application to the California Department of Education (CDE) to continue providing comprehensive academic and enrichment after school programs to eleven elementary and three middle schools in the district. The district has been the recipient of ASES grant since 1999. Mt. Diablo CARES currently operates after school programs at 16 district schools serving approximately 2,120 K-12 students each day. The K-8 programs are primarily funded by the California Department of Education’s (CDE) After School Education & Safety (ASES) grant. The ASES grant provides funding for 1,933 K-8 students. The district also operates two high school (Mt. Diablo-new in 2016 and Ygnacio Valley) CARES After School Programs which are supported primarily by Title I and LCFF funds.
