Summary
:
Staff requests authorization to contract with the Napa County Office of Education CalSERVES to serve as a subcontractor to implement the Carol White Physical Education Program (PEP) grant in the amount of $39,200.00, commencing on 7/1/2012 through 6/30/2013. This is the third year that this grant has been awarded to MDUSD CARES After School Program. CalSERVES was awarded a three-year PEP grant (2010-2013) from the U.S. Department of Education and will serve as the grant's fiscal agent. Mt. Diablo Unified School District CARES After School Program will serve as subcontractor to CalSERVES to provide extended physical activity and nutrition education programs within the after school program. Funds will be used for programs, staff, coordination and materials.

Funding is provided by Napa County Office of Education CalSERVES program and the U.S. Department of Education Carol White Physical Education Program (PEP).
Fiscal Impact
:
The contract is for $39,200.00. There is no unrestricted general fund contribution requirement. Funding from the After School Education and Safety (ASES) and the Network for Healthy California grants also support these services. Program codes 3979, 3871, and 3160.
