PLTW STEM Agreement.pdf
Summary: Mt. Diablo Unified School District has a growing number of schools interested in developing a PLTW pathway in Engineering, BioMedical or middle school exploration. MDUSD has had a PLTW agreement in place, but the addition of BioMedical as one of the pathways requires a new agreement be signed by MDUSD and PLTW. The Contra Costa Economic Partnership (CCEP) will be financially supporting the start up of a BioMedical PLTW at College Park High School utilizing SB70 funding being awarded to CCEP. The BioMedical program, unlike Engineering and middle school program, requires an annual Participation Fee of $2000.
Funding: Contra Costa Economic Partnership, SB70, Perkins
Fiscal Impact The annual Participation Fee of $2000, teacher training estimated at approximately $2000 each of three years. For the 2011-2012 year, these costs can be covered by CCEP’s SB70 grant and MDUSD’s SB70 grant. In subsequent years, CPHS could use Perkins funding and SB70 funding may also be available.
Recommendation: Approve MDUSD entering into PLTW STEM Agreement, effective July 1, 2011.
