Summary: Staff requests approval to ratify submission of two existing Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to continue to provide increased enrichment services to eleven eligible CARES After School Program sites in Bay Point. The grant includes; one to the Contra Costa Consortium for Bel Air, Rio Vista, and Shore Acres Elementary Schools, and Riverview Middle School in Bay Point; and a grant to the City of Concord for Cambridge, Fair Oaks, Meadow Homes, Wren Avenue, Ygnacio Valley Elementary Schools, and El Dorado and Oak Grove Middle Schools in Concord. These funds would continue to pay for expanded enrichment services and opportunities and STEM through increased specialty instructors and assemblies, field trips and youth development opportunities. MDUSD has received CDBG funds since 2005. If funded, the grant will provide $60,000 ($50,000 in Concord and $10,000 in Bay Point) for two additional years (2020-2022).
Funding: Funding is provided by the Community Development Block grant (CDBG).
Fiscal Impact The grant is for $60,000 each year for two years (2020-2022). There is no unrestricted general fund contribution requirement. Funding from the 3871-After School Education & Safety (ASES) Grant also support these services. CDBG program codes 3661, 3666
