Summary:

AB86/Section 76/Article 3 provides for local funding to regional consortia of community college districts and school districts to better serve the educational needs of adults. The local region is defined by the boundaries of the Contra Costa Community College District. Members are defined as school districts and community college districts. Joanne Durkee, Director, is a member of the AB86 Work Group at the State level, which is responsible for the funding allocations and application process. Ms. Durkee has also assisted in facilitating local efforts by co-chairing meetings along with Vice Chancellor Mojdeh Mehdizadeh. An early deliverable to the State is Intent to Participate signed by each Member School District and Community College District.
Mt. Diablo Adult Education is committed to this local and statewide process of ensuring greater coordination of services amongst adult schools and community colleges.

Fiscal Impact
:

Funding allocation for planning will compensate MDAE for expenses incurred specific to this planning process. The Contra Costa Community College District has been selected by the planning group to be the fiscal agent and will in turn develop MOUs with each school district/adult school for the purpose of reimbursement of expenses. Anticipated expenses specific to Mt. Diablo Adult Education include release time or additional time for instructors to participate in program area (ESL, High School Diploma, etc.) specific meetings, in collaboration with other adult schools and with community colleges, mileage, and possible project coordinator time.
