Summary
:
Mt. Diablo CARES After School Program requests approval to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Girl Scouts of Northern California to provide the Eco Choice program at Bel Air and Rio Vista Elementary CARES After School Programs. The Eco Choice program is a 5-module curriculum designed to enhance learning experiences about nature and the environment. The 5 modules include; Watershed, Climate Change Pacific Flyaway, Eco-Me-the Art of Nature, and Waste Reduction. Each Eco-Choice topic has three fully scripted lessons each lasting 1.5 hours. All the necessary materials and resources will be provided to Mt. Diablo CARES free of cost. The Eco Choice program will serve up to 25 Kindergarten to 5th grade students.

Resources are provided by the Girl Scouts of Northern California.
Fiscal Impact
:
The MOU is for the 2011-12 school year. There is no unrestricted general fund contribution requirement. Funding from the After School Education & Safety (ASES) grant will support these services. Program code 3871.
