Summary:
|
A committee of high school science teachers and a school support administrator for science met to develop an AP Physics C: Mechanics course of study currently being piloted at Mt. Diablo High School. AP Physics C aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards and is equivalent to the first term of the Physics for Scientists and Engineers course taken by students majoring in physics, chemistry, engineering, biological sciences, and computer programs at a college or university. Algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors will be used to solve mechanics problems. Weaving in the Science and Engineering Practices and Common Core State Standards for literacy in science, students investigate the world around them in an inquiry based manner applying the concepts they learn to real world scenarios.
