Summary:
|
Beyond the Words is a non-public agency (NPA) that provides Sign Language Interpreter Services for school based services that are identified on Individual Education Plans (IEP's). When the district (MDUSD) is not able to fill all open positions with district employees, the use of contract agencies is necessary to ensure that we are in compliance with state and federal law that govern special education. Beyond the Words is a company that will be utilized to provide Sign Language Interpreter Services to ensure that all of our needed Services are covered for the 2019-2020 school year. Beyond the Words will be used to fill open interpreter positions and cover after school events. MDUSD Personnel Department and Special Education continues to recruit and hire district employees.

The original contracted amount between MDUSD and Beyond the Words was for $225,000. The requested increase is for $350,000. This amount is already included in the approved budget for the 2019-2020 school year.
