Summary: Due to the inability to hire qualified speech-language pathologists (SLP) to fill all vacancies, the Special Education Department has had to use Independent Contractors in the provision of direct and consultative services in Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) to meet student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements.

A contract and purchase order for My Therapy Company in the amount of $24,500.00 was approved on September 23, 2009 to provide a bilingual speech language pathologist for the school year 2009-2010.

We will need an additional $77,420.00 for the remainder of the school year bringing the contract to $101,920 for the 2009-2010 school year.
Funding: General Purpose/Special Education. Budget Code #1219.
Fiscal Impact Fiscal impact is $77,420 and is already a budgeted expense in the 09-10 budget.
