Summary: It has been determined that it is necessary to provide the following schools with laptop computers in support of Common Core State Standards, and the board approved Measure C Classroom Technology Enhancement Project. The Measure C Classroom Technology Project was presented to the board on April 8, 2013. Staff is recommending that laptops be purchased in the amount of $210,635.52 through DecoTech Systems. The schools receiving this equipment are Pleasant Hill Middle School, Valley View Middle School, Oak Grove Middle School and Foothill Middle School.

Representatives from the School Achievement & School Support (SASS), Technology & Information Systems (TIS) and Measure C, met with school sites to determine their technology needs. The schools were given the choice between laptop and desktop computer labs, and the middle schools listed above chose laptops.

DecoTech Systems provided the lowest quote from the five vendors that responded to the RFQ. The list of vendors included national chains, such as Tech Depot and Dell, as well as local vendors like DecoTech Systems. As required by the terms of the RFQ, the vendor included CMAS contract #3-10-70-1602M, as their piggy-back contract. Staff recommendation is to award the contract with DecoTech Systems for the Middle School Laptop Order, through the 2010 Measure C Facility Improvement Program, as part of the Classroom Technology Enhancements Project.
