Summary: After months of review and discussion, a reorganization of the Maintenance and Operations Department (M&O) will result in an elimination of the Assistant Director position and addition of a Director of Facilities and Bonds position.
This role will oversee the bond programs and all facility work, resulting in clearer delineation between the current Director and Assistant Director positions in the Maintenance and Operations Department.
The Assistant Director Role, DMA Range 16 ($90,696 - $109,500) will be eliminated and the Director role will become a DMA Range 25 ($99,066 - $120,411), consistent with the current Director of Maintenance and Operations role in the same range. The change is estimated to have a non-General Fund fiscal impact of approximately $14,000 a year, multi-funded from Measure C, Measure J, and Routine Restricted Maintenance. With a clear focus on maximizing the Measure J funds through the state's remodernization/building reimbursement program, the focus of this role should be able to double the assets in the voter-approved Measure J bond program.
