Summary:
|
Due to existing vacancies for speech-language pathologists (SLPs), the Special Education Department continues to use Independent Contractors and agency providers to meet student Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements.
On July 1, 2010, the Board approved a Master Contract with The Speech Pathology Group to fill SLP positions at a total cost of $777,700. This figure included costs associated with the 2009-10 Extended School Year Program as well as Private School Consultant costs. It is necessary to increase the approved amount by $166,750 to cover costs associated with a District SLP non-work related injury, 3 legal agreements, and coverage of bilingual services.

Addition to contract of $166,750. This cost will still be fully absorbed within the existing budget of program 1219 after taking into account the board's reduction of $600,000 on March 14,2011.
