Summary: The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Governing Board holds a number of concerns regarding the potential approval of the Clayton Valley Charter High School application for renewal to the Contra Contra Costa Coundy Office of Education School Board. The MDUSD Governing Board has drafted a letter of correspondence detailing several of those concerns that they believe fall under the purview of review of the County Board of Education. The intent is to share the perspective of the Governing Board with the County Board of Education as they complete the process of review and potential approval of the continuing charter.

The MDUSD Governing Board has also prepared a draft resolution indicating several specific areas of concern regarding the fiscal and governance practices of CVCHS, and that requests that the Contra Costa County Board of Education fully inform themselves of all critical data and information in orde to make a responsibile and objective decision about the potential renewal of this charter.

The negative impacts to MDUSD are significant and the District Governing Board firmly requests that the Contra Costa County Board of Education perform its due diligence in closely examining the Claytron Valley Charter High School Renewal Application, and seeks public input on the subject, prior to affirming the renewal application.
Funding: No Fiscal Impact.
Fiscal Impact No Fiscal Impact.
Recommendation: Move to approve the letter of correspondence to the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) Board of Education, and the Resolution calling for the CCCOE to take their due diligence in reviewing the application of the Clayton Valley Charter High School for renewal of their charter.
